Last night I had the pleasure of watching a documentary marathon about the Titanic; its sinking, its rediscovery and subsequent pillage and the Hollywood blockbuster by the same name. I was left in awe at the mysteries that were answered and those that remain about the Titanic. Mostly, though, I felt a sense of grief for those lives lost and those effected by its sinking and the tragedy of it all.
On of the documentaries was entitled “Titanic: The Final Word With James Cameron“. James Cameron is a deep-sea explorer, movie producer director and a screen writer. His most notable works include The Terminator (1984), Aliens (1986), Titanic (1997) and Avatar (2009). This particular documentary was about his work on Titanic; the underground memorial (ship wreck / graveyard) site, his reconstruction of the sinking and the movie. The movie documentary went along the usual expected paths with no really stunning revelations until the last two minutes. What Cameron said during those two minutes absolutely blew my mind, and I share it here for you to ponder.
SO glad I saw this – thanks for posting. Yes, it’s all there in the “Titanic parable”…the microcosm of believing in “too big to fail”…the arrogance…and the money being made. Climate change is that iceberg. Very affecting.
Hi John.
I felt exactly the same. He so poetically summed up my fears and frustrations for humanity in regards to climate change. Let us hope only the four bulkheads fill. The fifth will sink us.
Cheers for the comment!
