Elephants

Every now and then, I find a video that really loves me and highlights our impact on the environment. This video was shared with me last night and bought me to tears. How special are the animals that we share the environment with? How easily do we dismiss them as being at our mercy or a part of our global manipulation? How many of them express emotion that we can witness and measure, and more concerning, how many possess emotion without the ability of expression? I hope you will enjoy this video.

“In 2000, “The Urban Elephant” brought viewers the touching story of Shirley and Jenny, two crippled elephants reunited at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee after a 22-year separation. The bonding was immediate, intense and unforgettable between the two former circus elephants. But long after the cameras were turned off, the wondrous moments would continue.”

I also would just like to express an apology to my regular readers for not having an animal profile this week, nor any original articles. Uni is hectic at present with end of session assignments due. I promise to have things flowing again in a few weeks! Until then, I hope you will continue to enjoy the fragmented articles as they come through every two days. Cheers!

What a beautiful story Rhianna. I need a box of tissues now…and how amazing that after so many years in the wilderness, that Shirley would be free. You can see just how happy she is and I feel the most sorry for the keeper as Shirley will be amazingly happy now that she has her old friend to spend her life with.
